ISS Orbit To Be Raised By 1.7 Kilometers
Moscow, Russia (RIA Novosti) Mar 24, 2010
The orbital altitude of the International Space Station (ISS) will be boosted by 1.7 kilometers (about a mile) on March 24, a spokesman for the Russian Mission Control said on Tuesday. "The maneuver will be performed with the help of eight boosters on board the Progress M-04M space freighter which is currently docked with the Zvezda module [on the ISS]," the spokesman said. Russia will complete the construction of chemical weapon destruction plants in 2011 and will destroy all chemical weapons stockpiles by 2012, a government official said on Wednesday.
