Russia's air and space forces are preparing for future threats from space with a "fundamentally new weapon," a senior officer said Saturday on Ekho Moskvy radio. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin gave the go-ahead on Wednesday for commercial oil production in the Russian part of the Caspian Sea by the country's largest independent oil producer, LUKoil.
