Australia accepts second helo simulator from CAE

Second MRH90 helicopter full-flight and mission simulator from CAE Australia has been accepted into service by the government of Australia.

The simulator is based at Royal Australian Air Force Base Townsville and had been certified by the Australian Defence Force Airworthiness Authority to Level D under the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Joint Aviation Requirements standards.

The certification is equivalent to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's Level D, the highest qualification for flight simulators.

"The Australian Defense Forces are increasingly leveraging synthetic training for more of their overall training requirements, and the high-fidelity MRH90 training systems we have delivered will play a key role in contributing to the overall safety, efficiency and readiness of MRH90 aircrews," said Peter Redman, vice president and general manager of CAE Australia Pty Ltd.

"The two MRH90 simulators now in operation in Australia are among the most advanced and highest fidelity helicopter flight simulators anywhere, and CAE is proud to have delivered them to support the Australian Army and Royal Australian Navy."

CAE, which was contracted for the simulators, as well as for training facilities, said it is in the process of delivering comprehensive engineering and support services for the two simulators being used in Australia.

CAE Australia is a subsidiary of Canada-headquartered CAE, a firm specializing in simulator products and services.
