Boeing has been awarded a $60 million U.S. Navy contract modification for work on the P-8A Poseidon multi-mission maritime aircraft.
The cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to a delivery order issued against a basic ordering agreement will mature the Increment 3 Block 2 capabilities through preliminary and critical design review for the aircraft.
Capabilities include Minotaur, multi-static active coherent enhancements, wide-band satellite communications, new computing and security architecture, automated digital network systems, common data link upgrades, anti-surface warfare signal intelligence, combat system architecture improvements and communication capability upgrades.
Work will be performed in Washington, Maryland, California, Texas and Missouri.
The Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting activity.
The Poseidon is designed for long-range, anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions in broad-area maritime and littoral environments.
