The Croatian Navy conducted successfully fired a Saab RBS15 anti-ship missile in October as part of Exercise Joint Force 15.
The missile was test fired from Croatian Navy vessel Dmitar Zbonimir in the Eugen Kvaternik military training area. The exercise marked Croatia's first firing of an RBS from a warship since 1994. Saab Missile Systems business unit head Stefan Öberg said the target used in the exercise was completely destroyed by the missile, serving as a testament to the missile's reliability.
"We are very impressed by the exemplary manner in which the current system has been maintained and operated by the Croatian Navy," Öberg said in a statement. "This level of expertise will surely mean that these missiles will remain in service with the Croatian Navy well into the future. We look forward to further collaboration with the Croatian MoD, on all fronts."
The Saab-built RBS15 Mk 3 is the latest generation Surface-to-Surface Missile System intended for anti-ship missions as well as land strikes. The subsonic cruise missile can be launched from ships, trucks and aircraft. Saab says the RBS15 features a flexible trajectory, advanced target seeker with all weather capabilities, and a high defense penetration capability.
The missile was produced by both Saab Business Area Dynamics and Diehl BGT Defense in Germany.
