Implant Sciences Corporation has been awarded a Canadian Air Transport Security Authority contract to deliver up to 340 of its QS-B220 desktop explosive trace detectors, the company announced Tuesday.
The systems will be deployed over the next to years in Canadian airports for passenger and baggage screening, the company said in a statement.
Implant Sciences also manufactures explosives detection systems for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The latest Canadian order is in addition to a successful bid for 112 of the systems for Canada in 2015, the company said.
The detection system has been deployed to more than 160 airports in the past year.
The QS-B220 is a desktop system using Ion Mobility Spectrometry to rapidly detect and identify trace amounts of military, commercial and homemade explosives.
