Jacobs Engineering acquiring Federal Network Systems

by Richard Tomkins Pasadena, Calif. (UPI) Apr 22, 2013 UPI

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. said on Tuesday that it is acquiring Federal Network Systems from Verizon Communications.

The financial terms of the agreement with Verizon were not disclosed, but Jacobs Engineering said the deal is expected to close this summer, subject to various conditions.

Federal Network Systems provides systems integration and communication, information technology and data security solutions. Its particular market focus is the U.S. intelligence community, the Department of Defense and other federal government customers.

"We expect our acquisition of FNS to significantly enhance our capability in the growing intelligence community industry; allowing us to augment our service offerings to government clients for whom we currently provide mission critical operations, facility design, commissioning and technical services," said Jacobs Group Vice President Robert Norfleet. "We are very pleased to enter into this agreement with the goal of bringing FNS into Jacobs."

FNS has about 750 employees.

Additional details of the acquisition were not provided.
